Privacy Policy

FAVA values User’s privacy and is committed to protecting User’s information while providing a safe communication platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard User’s data. By using the FAVA app or website (the “Platform”), User consent to these practices. 

Information We Collect

· Account Information: Name, email, phone number, nickname(s), and profile details User provide during signup. 

· Group and Activity Data: Groups User join/create, posts/requests/offers User submit, and interactions within groups. 

· Optional Information: Location data (only with User’s explicit opt-in for features like local group matching), ratings/reviews, or uploaded media. 

· Technical Data: Device info, IP address, usage logs, and analytics to improve the Platform (e.g., via cookies or similar technologies). 


We do not presently collect sensitive financial payment data, as payments occur off-platform. 

How We Use Information

· To create and manage User’s account, connect User with groups, and facilitate communications. 

· To send notifications about requests, offers, updates, or group activity. 

· To analyze usage, prevent fraud/abuse, and enhance features (e.g., improving search or safety tools). 

· For legal compliance, such as responding to subpoenas. 


In line with our role as a message board, we use data minimally to support neutral facilitation, not to vet User or enable transactions. 

Payments

Currently, payments are handled by a third-party payment platform (eg. Stripe) approved by FAVA. FAVA does not process, store, or access financial data related to User-to-User transactions. 

Sharing Information

· Within the Platform: Limited details (e.g., display name, nickname, group posts) are visible to group members to enable communication. No sensitive data is shared by default. 

· Third Parties: We do not sell User’s personal data. Sharing occurs only with: service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics) under strict contracts; affiliates for operations; or as required by law (e.g., to authorities for safety/legal matters). Invitations via email/phone use those details solely for that purpose and are not retained. 

· User Control: User can delete posts or leave groups, triggering data removal where feasible. 

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., encryption, access controls) to protect User’s data. However, no system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security—especially given our disclaimer of background checks or User vetting. User share information at User’s own risk, and we recommend caution with sensitive details. In the event of a breach, we will notify affected User as required by law. 

User’s Rights and Choices

Depending on User’s location (e.g., CCPA/GDPR compliance), User may request access, correction, deletion, or opt-out of certain uses. We retain data electronically for one year as needed for operations, disputes, or legal purposes, after which it is securely deleted.

Children’s Privacy

FAVA is not intended for children (under 18). We do not knowingly collect their data. Parents/guardians: Given the Platform’s focus on community favors (including potential child-related tasks), review interactions and exercise due diligence—FAVA does not screen or monitor for child safety. Report concerns to us immediately 

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as FAVA evolves (e.g., new features). Significant changes will be notified via the Platform, email, or in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
